It shows how irrational are people: Monsanto is making profits now, but if it manages to terrestial plants, let's see what they will do with their profits. I honestly hope they cannot destroy earth.

I would like to ask three questions:

1. Is it possible that this bacteria is around in the fields? (As far as I gather from what I read, it is not.)

2. If it was released in the fields would it really kill all terrestial plants in the world? Wouldn't terrestial plants find mechanism for prottecting themselves from alcohol production?

3. What kind of action is taken against or at least to monitor Monsanto and Genetic Engeneering to protect the environment. Chances are, since they can produce one such lehtal organism for terrestial plants, they could produce others as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439180943121365896.post-82047663315795505112015-05-16T22:50:32.861-05:002015-05-16T22:50:32.861-05:00I couldn't have put it better myself. You hit the nail on the head with resiliency. Where I'm from the Oak Savannah that dominated the Northern Illinois landscape has been scraped away. It absorbed up to 200 times more water during heavy rain, filtered out harmful toxins that ran towards bodies of water, held the soil in place, and provided one of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet. Sadly there are only tracks of it left that mildly resemble what it was.

What we have learned from the little that is left is that nature is stingy when it is given something precious like water, maybe the most precious resource for life. The interconnected mass of roots that formed the prarie and savannah ecosystems was so dense that it took metal plows to finally bust through it. Now that it is gone, we have rivers where there used to be series of interconnected seasonal ponds that only filled over their banks on the wettest years and seasons (The Des Plaines River in Lake County, Illinois.) These rivers and streams owe their existence to the removal of the interconnectedness, and replacement of it with pavement and green lawns. What have we done?

The tangled mess of spider web like connections that you depicted in your image of the internet is hauntingly similar to a few examples in nature. For one, the mass of roots in prarie ecosystems. Others are mycelial mats or the root structures of fungus, and as you touched on, the human brain (more specifically neuron connections.) It seems evolution found a pretty good thing if the process has found a way of reproducing itself in different structures across species that are so vastly different. I wish blogs like this were on the front page of every newspaper or at the top of every newscast, but it's too late for that.

The importance of issues like this takes a back seat to industrial progress, urban sprawl, and in general capitalism. All we can do is inform those who would like to listen carry on with our preparations. Thank you for your insight, when I read this I felt like I was reading a note to myself! Be well.

Greg Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-439180943121365896.post-19000922528648907842013-04-12T06:44:52.095-05:002013-04-12T06:44:52.095-05:00Interesting I hope these projects work in the amaz...Interesting I hope these projects work in the amazon for everyones sake, it looks 100x happier, healthier& sustainable than pig indoor pigfarm disease factories for sure. I have been there and its nothing like promoted. The tractor is a joke, the CEB press costs $5000+ in materials alone and you can buy a complete trailer mounted professional unit for $10k. The workshop they built out of CEB bricks is falling apart. The cord wood hut is falling to pieces. The soil and stream is getting polluted from all the old junk cars and engines laying all over like sanford and son.
